Peepal tree is one of the most famous trees in India. It is found everywhere and has been mentioned and described in the scriptures. It is a pure virtuous source of oxygen during the day and absorbs poisonous carbon dioxide at night. It provides a very cool shade.

The bark of the old tree is split apart and is dusty white. The leaves are smooth, clumpy, hanging down. The fruits are round, ½ inch in diameter. When ripe, they turn purple or black.

It is beneficial for skin and complexion. It cures ulcers and wounds, relives pain, oedema and swelling. It is also blood purifier. Its paste cures and heals wounds. The bark is sweet and astringent and cures small pox and cough. It promotes blood cell formation. It helps in conceiving and facilitates urination.
